CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) registration for NGOs involves obtaining eligibility to receive funds or contributions from companies under their CSR obligations, as mandated by the Companies Act, 2013 (in India). Companies meeting specific financial thresholds are required to spend a portion of their profits on CSR activities, and NGOs can be the implementing partners.
1. CSR-1 Registration with MCA
- Prepare Documents:
- PAN of the NGO.
- Registration Certificate of the NGO (e.g., Trust Deed, Society Registration, or Certificate of Incorporation for Section 8 Companies).
- Details of governing body members.
- Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) of the authorized signatory (usually the NGO's chairperson or managing trustee).
- Obtain DSC and Register on MCA Portal:
- If not already done, obtain a Digital Signature Certificate (DSC).
- Register your NGO and authorized signatory on the MCA portal.
- File Form CSR-1:
- Login to the MCA portal.
- Download and fill Form CSR-1.
- Attach the required documents.
- Submit the form with DSC authentication.
- Verification and CSR Number:
- The MCA will verify the form.
- Upon approval, your NGO will receive a unique CSR Registration Number.
